Previously I have written about making money from blogging using the usual ways that most people will think of. Another little idea to profit from an already indexed and PageRank’ed blog/site is to use a service called PostLinks.com to pair you up with people who want to get backlinks by allowing them to publish articles with 1 or 2 links inside them to your site.
How PostLinks.com Work
Basically to qualify you need to have a WordPress site that has at least a PageRank 1. You install their plugin after activating your site and getting approved through the control panel featured on their website. Once this is all in places you will start to see posts appear in new categories that have been written by other people featuring one or several links embedded. A lot of the articles I have seen posted to a PR2 site that I have been testing with are roughly to do with the sites main theme, except for about 2 or 3 that arent but seem to draw in the most traffic from search engines?!?!
My Rags To Riches Story
Or not…. so far I made $0.51 in my first month after the site claimed I had 9 articles posted to my site earning $0.45 (it seems a PR2 site earns $0.05 per post) and 1 link earning the other $.06 somewhere on my site. In reality I have about 30 something posts that I havent written but according to support my server doesnt respond back to tell them they are posted correctly so I am at fault and can delete them. Im not going to delete them because they are acting as content I didnt pay for and dont want to waste. As for the company paying, they paid straight away into my PayPal account automatically without me having to ask them.
Making Decent Money With PostLinks.com
OK so my new plan is to buy a PR5 site to earn the highest amount possible per post. Naturally they pay more for posts on higher PageRank’ed sites as the links weigh more in SEO but they only go as far as PR5 then wont pay any higher if you have a PR 6 etc. This makes no sense to me, you could make huge amounts of money from the really high PageRank sites. A link from a PR7 news site in a page thats only 1 click level below home for several weeks could make business hugely lucrative by passing power through. This could be worth thousands a month to the right companies with a high converting site in a high profit niche.
I also think that my site is only attracting 1 post per day because the site is a PR2. If it was a higher PageRank it could attract people going for the best site for their articles the same way you would treat a Web 2.0 site like Squidoo.
PostLinks.com Making Money Idea
So with a PR5 or PR6 site I could potentially and theoretically attract posts that would earn me 8 times what my PR2 site does in a higher quantity. Plus, with these posts comes new and varied content that could have my own adverts up the sides or spread among the content as another stream of income. These adverts would have to adapt to whatever is on the page so that whatever people are posting to the site is relevant to the adverts displayed. Of the top of my head, I know you can get adverts from Amazon that show products currently relevant to the page content. This has proved useful for a games review site I setup that shows the games being reviewed and talked about as product boxes. Other advertisers such as Google Adsense would also work brilliantly and show product and non-product based relevant ads that are currently trending and can earn high amounts from.
Getting The Site
The first step in all of this is to actually acquire a website with a high PageRank, preferably PR5 or above. This website would have to be cheap so that breaking even can be reached quicker and also soften the damage in-case this project is a massive failure! A quick search on Flippa for sites that are PR5 and above reveals an assortment of different sites. Problem is that a lot of these are established and hugely successful and lucrative businesses that have been running for year, which will explain the PageRank. Among these gems though are some sites that have achieved PageRank by being storms in a tea cup after being mentioned on news sites and gaining high PageRank backlinks thta have all added up. As long as the site is cheap and has a good foundation as to why it has the PageRank and will keep the PageRank I dont care.
